( CyberLife is a complicated issue after the revolution. production is shut down while they try and parse out the issues, operations limited strictly to maintenance and repair functions only. the tower is abandoned while they try to reach a solution, and that's how Connor finds it almost two weeks after the battle for Detroit. empty. lifeless.
it's almost a little creepy.
Connor is only here because there had been rumours of androids left behind in the production assembly. the source was weak at best, but it couldn't just be ignored - if there really were androids in there still they couldn't be left behind, and if there weren't then no harm was done, right? so Connor volunteered, determined to establish his side of the conflict after the damage he'd done as the "Deviant Hunter". he needed to atone, so he puts his hand up to reenter the tower and looks for survivors.
whatever he was expecting, it's not this.
the rumours seemed to be untrue, after nearly three hours of diligent hunting through every level of CyberLife towers and coming up empty handed it seemed to be that the place really was as empty as they had previously believed. and then he gets to one of the lowest repair departments, and after hunting around a bit he finds something that genuinely leaves him stunned. it's him.
Connor first assumes that this is going to be another violent confrontation, but as he looks closer he sees the serial number on the jacket. -51, the one he had worn until he'd ended on the wrong side of a bullet thanks to the Ortiz android. this is him, his last body before they'd reuploaded him and sent him out into the world. Connor has no idea what to expect when he reaches out his hand. He retracts the human looking skin, showing the white plastic-like material underneath, and as he brings his hand to the model in front of him, the deactivated android's arm exposes itself involuntarily and allowing them to interface. )
Wake up.
( he really hopes this one doesn't try to kill him. )
[Connor wakes, blinking a few times as he assesses his body to check for any damages. he doesn't expect to open his eyes to another him, having thought that this body, the one he's standing in now, would be disposed of. why had they kept it, and what was in front of him now? he's genuinely confused.
if he is here, and the Connor in front of him is here (upon further investigation, he notices the numbers on the new Connor's jacket. he's another android entirely, even a few down the line. which means there has been many after him. and what had happened to Amanda by this point? and Hank?]
You.
[he looks past his other self, at the state of the room their in and the building itself. something happened, something big. he should be gone, destroyed.]
[deviancy is still new to Connor. most of his original programming is so integrated into his system that figuring out what he wants vs what he knows is, well, confusing. feelings are entirely new to him and most of the time, when Hank asks how he feels about Connor, he answers automatically, a predetermined and immediate response leaving his mouth. he understands that Hank doesn't like that.
DPD keeps Connor on the force in an attempt to reconcile with the androids -- equality and all that -- and also because Connor is the most well-versed when it comes to dissecting a crime scene. after CyberLife's ultimate destruction (turning all other RK models deviant in order to sway the government certainly did a number on the company) Connor was the only one that decided to stay, and more importantly, stay with the police. it falls into the same category of why he kept his LED, the one thing that a lot of other androids found interesting, to say the least. even humans saw it as odd after what happened. all beings are created equal, some androids saw the LED as a means of segregation. it had been, for a while, but with freedom came choice, and Connor made his.
today, he and Hank are investigating a homicide. even with the new laws coming into place, violence still took place (statistically, crime will rise before leveling out). violence against androids will have as serious consequences as violence against humans; at least, that's what Markus is aiming for. this time, it's an escaped android, another dead, and a human that's been brutally murdered. the weather sets the mood for the crime scene, out in the rural areas of Detroit, in the rare areas that's allowed nature to overgrow. vines crawl up the house, the season stripping the trees of life.
the feel in the air is what Connor would recognize as unease, picking up on Hank's raised heart rate. they're out here by themselves, save for a few officers scattered around in case they need backup. the DPD has been a tad stretched out recently, to put it lightly. forensics has already arrived, still photographing the scene inside. Connor still follows a few footsteps behind Hank as they reach the house, falling back onto familiarity. he's alert, scanning the premises in case the killer has stuck around, a common mistake that a lot of deviants made. he's quiet today.]
\0/! Lmao I tend to haunt bakerstreet these days. I've gotten too lazy to keep up with games. I will absolutely tag you when I see you around, and invite you to do the same! There aren't many of us, we need to stick together! 😂
